If you are someone who finds traditional wedding ring designs predictable and cliché, flower engagement rings are awesome alternatives that offer a unique and classic look. With a broad appeal of beauty, floral ring designs are very versatile and can easily be adapted towards an individual’s preferences.
Besides that, floral engagement rings also offer a practical benefit of being less expensive (it’s true!).
Here’s why; the cost of an engagement ring is predominantly determined by the main center stone. Since a flower diamond ring emphasizes on the overall outlook instead of a single stone, it enables you to opt for a smaller and less expensive center stone!
From sleek to modern and elaborate to antique designs, there are literally hundreds of designs offered by bespoke jewelers in the market today. What I want show you in this article are some of the best designs from reliable jewelers I highly recommend. Check them out below…

Hi Paul,
I notice that you often make comparisons using a selected number of stores. I have recently by chance saw a brand called Darry Ring, what are your thoughts about their quality as well as their swirl and rose shaped ring with diamond center design?
Thanks ^_^
I’m sorry. I have never heard of the brand nor have any experience with them to share with you. Check out this link if you are looking for swirl engagement rings. I’ve actually compiled a list of designs and where to get them. This should give you more ideas to work with.
Paul,
First of all I want to thank you for all of the information on your website. It is objective and invaluable. You are doing a great service to the world of traditional diamond engagement rings and to those interested in diamond jewelry purchases.
I started to help my son with an engagement ring purchase and due to the various recommendations on the web, decided on an online purchase as a means of extending his hard earned money. My son is a “Special Needs” Teacher and cannot just walk into Tiffanys and purchase a ring. I have the experience, not in diamonds, but I am a collector of rocks and minerals. Everything was fine until the finished product.
I am old school and have always believed in access to the back of stones for cleaning purposes even though these holes create a dirt trap. What I discovered the last few days is that there appears to be a trend towards blind settings. I will acknowledge that there is little light coming from the inside of the ring that is against your finger – at best only 5% – but I like to keep my stones immaculate and do not know what I would do if I could not clean that area.
Yes, a jeweler can professionally clean my engagement and wedding rings but my jewelry does not live with him. I have been told that the holes are just a nuisance and that the ring can be professionally cleaned nevertheless. I was also told that dirt, liquids etc do not get into good settings but I do not believe this for a second. I know there has to be a tiny bit of space between the stone and setting so that the stone does not break.
I also know that ultrasonic and high pressure steam can do wonders but the average household does not have access to this. I am perfectly willing to go along with a blind setting provided I can be convinced that the stones can be cleaned without having to be removed to thoroughly clean the immediate area around it. My son can also select a different setting.
I am attaching a link of the setting and the 2 possible versions available here: https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/side-stones/14k-white-gold-floral-engagement-ring-item-53291. The pictures do not reveal that the sapphires and outermost leaves are set against the shank itself. There is no opening of any sort. The central diamond would be accessible from the top and bottom because it is set above the shank.
Kindly look at the photos and tell me whether I am overreacting. One of the settings is thoroughly blind while the one with the channel on the shank is supposed to have tiny holes for the sapphires and the leaves at the end but I do not see them.
I looked at the setting here: https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/side-stones/14k-white-gold-floral-engagement-ring-item-53291
For the side stones, you are right about the difficulty in cleaning them. Now, even with the holes at the bottom, it would be difficult to clean them as well.
For this kind of setting, you do need an ultrasonic machine for better and easier cleaning. It’s not expensive to buy one but I could understand the concern you have. Otherwise, change the ring design.
