My Marriage Proposal By the Beach at Sentosa

It was the 11th of March, 2012 and preparations for a marriage proposal by the beach were being secretly arranged. The plan was to surprise my girlfriend by popping the question when she least expected it.

Credits go to my siblings who were my “partners in crime” as we brainstormed for ideas to make the proposal a memorable one.

It all begins with a fictitious story that my best friend was organizing a surprise treasure hunt cum birthday party for his girlfriend by the beach. I was “conveniently” roped in as an organizer while my girlfriend was also invited to the party.

As an excuse, both of us were in charge of prepping the location for the “fake” treasure hunt. And that’s where I would execute the plan to surprise my girlfriend…

Location: A Popular Beach Resort in Sentosa

My secret helpers chose a scenic spot on top of a sandbar that overlooked the beach. A picnic mat was laid onto the sand and props (her favorite soft toys I had smuggled out of her home) were added to the setup. The highlight of the proposal was a hand drawn message that was outlined by rose petals in the sand.

My Heart Was Racing And Adrenaline Started Building Up

When we approached the planned location, she was surprised to see that everything had already been set up since we were supposedly the ones to be doing it. Well, since nobody was around, I cheekily told her to take a peek in the picnic basket to see the contents.

Once she lifted the cloth to reveal the diamond ring tugged in between her favorite soft toys, I picked up the flowers, knelt down and popped the question: “Will you marry me?”

And she said….

YES!

She’s absolutely delighted with the proposal ring that I bought for her!

Dinner at a nice restaurant and that’s me having some fun…( We happened to have similar finger sizes )

Buying a diamond ring online was one of the best decisions I had made in a series of events leading up to marriage. The extra money saved from the engagement ring helped to cover other wedding expenses like buying a home.
